The FDA approved a generic tranylcypromine(Parnate) about a year ago. The price should be a lot less and if you have insurance you should be paying the generic co-pay. Active ingredients are the same, I'm not sure about the inactive ones; but it is not a deal like the change in phenelzine(Nardil). To get the actual Parnate, your doctor would have to specify Parnate and mark no substitutions on the prescription. Insurance companies do not like them doing that.
JediGeneric Parnate: An Overview
http://depression.emedtv.com/parnate/generic-parnate.html> My husband went and got my Rx for Parnate refilled for me, and I looked at the pills. They are not the bright red that says Parnate and SB underneath. They are more of a pinkish orange color with a big K in the middle and then 250 on the other side. What might these be??? I can't believe this is Parnate???
