Switching Ativan to Xanax. Can it be done quickly?

I take 4 half tablets of 0.25mg xanax each day usually.
how quickly can i switch to ativan? can i replace it right away?
Ativan was better for social anxiety for me. I have strong dep and social anxiety. Currently on 10mg paxil. which helped a lot for SA and Dep.

But i still need to get rid of the social anxiety because its still quite strong. and i am not talkative enough most the time.
How fast can i switch to ativan from xanax? any experiences here?
