How do you test for cortisol?

Posted by Meri-Tuuli on May 31, 2007, at 13:12:59

Oh deary me. There I was, several weeks ago, blissfully ignornant on how mental illness isn't all it the mind. Not to sound rather hopeless, but I didn't realise just how much having mental illness affects our normal health in general!

Us mentally ill, well we have lowered immunity, dumber kids, worse overall health outcomes etc. All due to our faulty biochemistry.

Oh great.

So. I was wondering how you go about testing your serum cortisol levels? And, if this is in any way useful. I'm guessing actually that my cortisol levels are pretty high. Probably. Although high blood pressure is a sign, isn't it, and if anything, my BP is a touch too low (but then, I'm a tall slim chick so standing up too fast is never a good idea).

Hmmmmmmmmm.

Where does mental illness come from? And why do we, dear babblers, just we, have to suffer from it?

Meri
