Zyprexa isn't a good choice for long-term social phobia treatment, unless you're socially phobic in addition to some sort of chronic psychotic disorder. Then...maybe. And if you're freakin out and tense, then maybe, for a little while. Otherwise...probably not a great idea.
Antipsychotics can sometimes *induce* social phobia, probably because of the D2 blocking. There are case studies of people on haldol and high-dose atypicals getting withdrawn, socially phobic, having panic attacks, etc...this was fixed with benzos and a change in antipsychotic or the dose.
High-potency benzos (klonopin, xanax) are good for social phobia. SSRIs...kind of, for some people. Nardil and Parnate help others. Antipsychotics probably aren't a good idea unless there are other issues that respond well to APs...even then, you might still need a benzo.
