Your help would be so appreciated as I am having a rough time right now and I believe it to be caused by either one or both of these meds. And also due to the fact that I'm Bipolar and not on a "TRUE" Mood Stabilizer (but will be.)

Hi there! Thanks so much for your response. :)To answer your questions, I was not diagnosed as having Bipolar and all the Personality Disorders until early January 2005. Although for YEARS I had mentioned that I believe I had Bipolar to various Doctors and Therapists. I did have one psychologist believe I may have Borderline Personality Disorder, but that was about 13 years ago.
All of the Anxiety/Panic issues were diagnosed about 13 years ago. ALL of my Doctors believed I suffered From Major Depression and that's what was causing all of these anxiety issues. So of course, I was put on 1 antidepressant after another yet nothing ever worked for long.
My current Psychiatrist is the 1st Doctor to TRULY acknowledge that my issues stem from anxiety. Every other Doctor before being diagnosed with Bipolar has tried to treat the "major depression" and in doing so, would also be treating the anxiety issues.
I totally agree with you that a lot of my disorders stem from having Bipolar. It's a tough disorder! And yes I also agree that Depakote will help me. It has before. :)
BUT I do need some kind of antidepressant or something that will keep me from getting depressed to go along with my Depakote. Hence the Prozac. Although My Psychiatrist thoght treating me with an antipsychotic (Geodon) & Prozac would stabilize me. LOL
I have to laugh at that one because I told him from day 1 I HAVE to be on a mood stabilizer and he told me Geodon was approved by he FDA for just that. Well I feel the only thing the Geodon did was make me an anxious mess with a severe case of insomnia. But then again I have been down the Trial & Error road MANY times.
Do you think that 10mg paired with 500mg of Depakote ER will work? I know My Doc plans on taking my Depakote up to 1,000mg ER if the 500mg works. And at that time I will probably go back to the 20mg of Prozac or switch to Effexor (which he and I have discussed.)
Sorry for the novel here. LOL It's just you seem so knowledgable and sincere that I would like your opinion. Oh and I have already decided to stop the Geodon, which is fine with My Doctor anyway as he wanted to take me off it at my last visit.
Thanks so much for the info and the links. I really appreciate all your help! :) I would love to hear back from you in regard to my response.
Take care!
Hugs,
CA 2 NJP.S. Is it a good idea to take the Prozac at the same time as the Depakote? Or does the timing matter? Thanks again!
