I'm on my 2nd trial of Parnate after being on Nardil most of the last ten years. Even though you seem to be having some significant side effects, 20mg daily is probably not a high enough dosage. Your dosage will be more or less directly related to the degree of MAO Inhibition. I have titrated up to 80mg over the past six weeks and I still feel I'm not quite getting the results that I achieved with 90mg Nardil. I'm hoping the answer is more time because I'm afraid I've reached the limit that my doctor is comfortable prescribing. My main side effect is afternoon somnolence; this seems to be decreasing with time and the higher dosage. The good thing is that the intense sweet carbohydrate cravings I got with Nardil (and thus weight gain) is not nearly as bad for me on Parnate.Good Luck, increase the dosage, and try to stick it out. Believe me, I know it is hard. After 40+ combination drug trials, the MAOIs plus clonazepam are the only meds that have worked for me.
Take care,
