Phillipa there very few meds actualy on label for anxiety, buspar being one.
The majority of anxiety agents are either,
-- anti convulsants
-- anti seizure
-- anti psychotic
--- anti depressantThe entire class of benzos, with i think the exception of xanax is iniatly for seizures. However for that the dose is dramactialy higher as it would be because your treating a full blown seizure.
The idea is since anxiety produces seizure like activity, using these drugs in extremly low doses, compared to sezire dose, can be tried for the anxiety.
Example being klonopin is noted to be used as high as 20 mg for a full blown seizure.
Youre average person will be using up to 1 mg for anxiety, and that is even a modest dose.
so a ratio of approx 1-3 mg is a far cry of 20 mg.
Tons of drugs are offialy labled for one thing and then used off label for another. This is extremly common.Benzos did not come out to treat anxiety officialy.
As for klonopin,i can site the actual differances but i do have the articles, anyway its actions differ enough to where it has been noted to include mood stablization along with its anti anxiety effects. There will always be exceptions as in your case and others, however klonopin as a whole im sure is considered an extremly useful tool in anxiety and mood treatment.Go to remedy find and see how many responses it produces compared to the other anxiety remedies, its enormous.
