Well, I know that it's not often prescribed nor is it widely available (b/c every time I need to get a script filled, it has to be special ordered).

It really did wonders for the narcolepsy (though not so much for the ADD, which is what I was really taking it for). I NEVER ever got tired or fatigued during the day. And that in and of itself was enough of a reason for me to take it.

If you're asking how I got my doc to agree to prescribe a controlled substance, it wasn't a problem. He's a well-respected psychopharmacologist in DC and has heard of and used drugs that many other docs aren't familiar with. So I guess I was lucky in that respect.

The thing is that I have to give up the Desoxyn b/c I'm going to be starting Parnate (or Emsam) in two weeks, provided I don't regress. He says combining the two is an absolute no-no, and I defer to his judgement.
