I have been on generic Wellbutrin now for several weeks, 75mg IR, and am finding increasing appetite and weight gain. I am hungry and craving carbohydrates continuously!
I was always very skinny naturally. At age 21, height 5' 10", I weighed 122 pounds, extremely thin for my height. I naturally gained weight over time, being on a tricyclic A/D in my late 20's and then benzos.
But I can only find ONE example of carb craving and extreme weight gain on bupropion scouring the internet. I have not even titrated up to 150mg. yet, still on 75mg. My depression is maybe a tiny bit better, not much. I was hoping to give this drug a chance but I cannot risk massive weight gain........the only thing i ever liked about myself was being tall and thin. :(
My question is , if I go up in dose to 150mg. or higher, will this food craving go away does anyone know? In one of the american psych, journals I read of a man who gained 30+ pounds on wellbutrin over a couple of months and although his depression was much improved, he asked to be taken off the drug due to weight gain.
would I have the same response with the SSRI's such as Lexapro? I have already been on Prozac- no help at all.
Suggestions, please?
