Observation of a case: imipramine/clonazepam

Posted by Squiggles on March 28, 2007, at 10:03:37

If anyone recalls my hypersomnia posts;
my observation of this case in decreasing
clonazepam from 3.0 to 1.50 (not quite there
yet) with a max imipramine dose of 300mg steady,
is that the brain fog and *certainly* the
hypersomnia is decreasing, indubitably.

Unfortunately, imipramine and many other tricyclics induce anxiety, necessitating a sedative, but the sedative can be too high. Nevertheless, it could also be a side effect or interaction of the combo.

In any case, reducing clonazepam seems to be doing a lot of good. I have seen in the Roche and many other monographs, and the PDR that anything higher than 1.50mg clonazepam for anxiety is not recommended, and may even outweigh the benefits.
