In reply to Is Seroquel as sedating + depressing as Trazadone?, posted by dreamboat_annie on March 19, 2007, at 21:59:28
They're both sedating, to an extent because they both cause low blood pressure. Seroquel also is an antihistamine. At 12.5 or 25mg the risk of diabetes is pretty low as long as munchies aren't creeping wildly into the picture, considering its dosed to 800mg.
Trazodone does have a bad metabolite mCPP which can increase psychosis, however this doesn't usually happen except in those prone to it. One can quickly acclimate to the sedation from Trazodone -- as well as Seroquel too, although that varies again by the individual.
I always found Trazodone rather yucky not to mention for males, and it happened several times actually, priapism is a risk. Fortunately it wasn't severe.
I think its a matter of what works for someone -- personally I'm not in favor of using side effect agents, however they do have the general nature of not producing tolerance, other than becoming used to sedation which means dropping it and rinse and repeat.
