Dear Needhelp, if someone were to have told me I was 'bipolar' a year ago, I would have either laughed in their face, or taken great offense.
I suppose its up to your husband to be more open with you, for you to be his crowbar. I dont think his doc may be bad just because he is very HIPPA oreiented. Maybe you both could go to see him at the same time?
And yes when I get into a manic phase where I have to deal with the out come of something I did, I can tend to blame someone or something eles. (pms, or just circumstances). Once in a while I was very mean and told people if they couldnt live to be around me, then just die.(horrible looking back to that).
There are many meds used for BP, the oldest being lithium. The med I found to control most of my BipolarII is Lamictal, and its the first one I have tried. After being lexapro free for 3 months, I took it and it work on the first day as a mood enhancer. It sort of makes me think alot more about what I shall do and say before I do so.
I was on Abilify for 2 weeks, but it wasnt helping my bipolar at all. Just a splash to know if it would work or not.
So it induces more thought, instead of zombieness, I think. Much less rash behavior and comments now. Also motivating, I called it my double espresso in the morning. No laying in bed cursing every daybreak and feeling sorry for myself. This med is very slowly brought up in doeses, untill it does its trick, so I had alot of time writing in my journal analyzing the effects over a couple months. I am also on seroquel for sleep, and Xanax for anxiety.
As for the grass question...I live in Oregon. Every other person is high here. The rest of the country is drooling over the crops here. Many medical marajuana cards. I know at least 6 people who have one. My doc says half his patients are smoking weed. I have a friend who when is tired of smoking pot, they will use a benzo script in its place.
I'd mention to your doc and husband about a couple's session. If the doc is just a pill pusher, he probably wont give it much thought. If he is actually wanting to tap into some of the roots of your husbands problems, he'll probably welcome it, if he doesnt feel you are a threat to his treatment as of now. If they both push you away, I'd start asking more questions, because you are suffering/being abused in this situation.
> I do think he may be bipolar. Have thought that for some time but the doc will not work with me because of privacy laws and my husband thinks he is ok, it is everyone else that is messed up and makes him this way. Says he doesn't want to become a zombie from meds. He doesn't drink a lot of alcohol. But I just recently discovered that his "friends" have got him back to using weed also. Do you know how weed affects lexapro? Could that be part of the problem also? My guess is yes but as I said the doc won't discuss it with me. I have suggested that we switch doctors. I think this doc is just a pill pusher and not listening to the problem. What medicine do they have you on? What meds do they use for bipolar?
