Abilify, for me, is kind of an odd drug. On lower doses, I felt calmer and more focused, and it smoothed over paranoia w/o totally eliminating it (I took it for bipolar "issues"); on higher doses, it was basically just a neuroleptic, albeit one that was quite tolerable.

Intuitively, it seems to me that a low (below 10mgs) dose of abilify would smooth out a stimulant, relieving tension and maybe doing some sort of anti-depressant, anti-anxiety work. If you have problems with mood changes in between dex doses, it might help that, too, b/c of the partial D2 agonism and b/c of the serotonin action. Abilify does tend to cause akathisia in what seems like a lot of people, at least w/ the higher (10mgs+) dosages; if you start @ 2-5 (both 2 and 5mgs tabs are now available, btw), that might be less of a problem.
If you've tried other things already, this sort of combo might be worth a try. Since neuroleptics tend to act pretty quickly, I would think you'd only need a brief trial to see whether or not this particular combo is going to benefit you.

Good luck.
