In reply to People getting worse on antidepressants......, posted by valene on March 14, 2007, at 9:12:45
I'm inclined to agree. I stopped tianeptine today and my mood has brightened quite a bit already. It was altering my ability to deal with stress for sure, but it wasn't acting as a 'mood brightener' as sold. Whenever I've stopped taking antidepressants, after the withdrawal I've felt a lot better than when I was taking them. I'm starting to think that while they do improve mood during a severe depressive crisis their blunting effects prevent a complete return to wellness, for which the final step is coming off the drugs and learning slowly to stand again on your own two feet. Just as with any other serious illness. That seems to be almost totally forgotten or in modern US psychiatry, worse, I suspect it's often wilfully ignored to keep patients dependant and pockets well lined.
Again, this website or its authors will no doubt be tied with some subversive political/religious group that will be used to discredit it by the psychiophile factions.
