If you took a really good look at the population and tried to determine who is so "normal" you'd debase yourself entirely. There are people out there that you probably know who you don't know are taking some sort of medication. We aren't born 100% perfect genetically, and it isn't our fault. Some people just scrape together and "tough it out" -- I feel for them. Others kid themselves into believing everything is right when they really need to do something to improve their lives -- people create a potemkin village, an impression of "normality." But what is really normal?

Thank goodness for some medications out there that can help our ails in the 21st century and I don't just mean psychoactive substances. We have a fairly high life expectancy -- one only has to look at Africa to see the ignored face of AIDS and countries with life expectancies as low as 31. We could have a higher one if the population wasn't getting large, and I don't mean that we've turned 300 million, but that weight gain has increased due to diabetes, and our pattern of eating. Japan leads with the highest life expectancy.

It would. I carry literally a case of medications, almost as a ball and chain, because if anything ever happened, I could have seizures from AED withdrawal and would have to explain to a hospital or another doctor just exactly what everything is for. I didn't ask for this current disorder but I know that I have a biological and genetic inheritance, mostly from my mothers' side, sadly her sister, well anyhow is not here... BPII.

> Wouldnt it be great really if we just didnt have these depression problems, drug problems, sleeping problems, i mean why cant life just be harmony. There is just so many problems we have to deal with, stress, sleeping, pain, and i mean to cope with it we use medication, or to help it or stablize to be normal.

My father mystifies that it is a wonder that we as human beings "work" at all. I mean, a complex system put together. We have redundancy in some places -- two lungs, two kidneys, but only one heart and brain. The liver can regenerate fantastically. We can survive without certain parts of our organs surgically. But sometimes life throws a curveball, and tragically makes mistakes and there are all sorts of genetic disorders beyond depression and anxiety. The 21st century holds hope for these with genetic therapy, if we allow ourselves to harness stem cells. This of course is no end of controversy.

I'm waiting... But while we wait, life moves on, and so everybody deals it in their own way. An acquaintance of mine lost his parents early on and deals with life in a sort of matter of fact way and that's how he views things, he has to take care of his siblings rather than the opposite. Its hard for him to completely understand my condition, so I sort have given up explaining. Actually my friend circle has kinda declined -- I need to move on in life but how do you move on when you're so challenged by visual cues in the environment?

I'm probably getting a little off too..
