I'm BipolarII also w/rapid cycling and ADD. I've been on Topamax now for a month and love it. I'm happy to report that the side effects experienced have been slim to none, compared to the positive impact on my mood and rapid cycling.I began at 25mg at first. This was a bit difficult for me because during that time, I was in a state of hypomanic. Then during week two I began to experience a bit of relief slowly but surely. My pdoc has now added Lyrica for anxiety, which has also been a life saver.(thanks to crazyhorse-right dosage help...)
Now I'm on 100mg of Topamax, 400mg Lyrica and 200mg Provigil I think I'll exhale for awhile and smile while the sun is out.
