I know exactly how you feel.
Half the world might, given a free market.

My experience has been that the desire for opiates recedes somewhat over time due (I think) to changes in brain function, subsequent to addiction.

I found it particularly hard to find a sense of psychological balance, and acceptance of suffering has been important in what balance I have.

There are cases of bupe and hydrocodone being used therapeutically for depression.

Opiates should be reserved for the aged IMO, but like everything else they go to the rich and the enterprising.
