> I'm currently trying to determine if I have social anxiety or avoidant personality disorder. What are the differences between the two?If you want a lamons opinion, one whos been dealing with this crap for years, here goes,
I believe they are a two headed snake, almost one in the same.
For example i have many friends,so when im told "just go out,get out the house etc" what people dont understand is DUH this is a GOAL,NOT AN OPTION for me.
Now to be more direct,it usualy starts with social anxiety, can be as mild as simply feeling uncomforable to full blown shaking inside, this makes for poor company,or you feel that you are poor company, you simply want to seek the shelter of a SAFE ZONE where you wont feel this way.
Thus over time you simply become understandbly more and more avoidant and prefer to be in SAFE ZONES.
Do you notice you have a safe zone? a place,a room etc you always feel drawn to go to over being out and about?
Lots of times these disorders are catogorized by "professionals" who never felt it,and i really dont believe how many times u hear it from someone, you can ever truly understand the frustration of being lonly yet choosing to be alone. You have to live it to truly know the demon.
