In reply to Emsam - positive experiences for Bipolar II?, posted by chiron on February 12, 2007, at 22:07:01
I did not have success, but it is only because it made me MEAN. Wellbutrin did the same thing to me. I never got above the initial doseage.
The side effects were not bad, except for the skin irritation, which does not bother some people, and when I put it on my thigh, it was not a problem.I'd say try it, or better yet, from what I read here, try the parnate or nardil if you are disciplined enough to avoid the foods, not just the drugs. I wish I would have tried that instead of the emsam. People on this board who have tried both seem to say the emsam is not the same potency. There ARE some success stories here about emsam if you search...
PS I have just been diagnosed Bipolar II but still am not convinced the mood stabilizers are the way to go, esp. when I see similar stories to yours.
