Although the title seems as if I am being sarcastic and not serious, I am very serious.
I am a fairly young person (25) and most of my friends enjoy going out for a few drinks and some dancing on the weekends.
Before I got help for all of my issues, my weekends were filled with over-exercising, starving, calorie counting, binging, purging, cutting, severe depression... ect. You get the picture.
It has been about a year since I got help, went inpatient, and got medicated. Since then, I have been able to go out, meet other people my age, and have had many invitations to go have a drink after work, to go and maybe have 'several' drinks on a Friday night.. Again, you get the picture.
Now I know that I cannot drink on Xanax (which I take, 4 mgs per day). So, if I go out, I do not take Xanax; after all, I no longer want to die :)
However, I recently read my bottle of Lexapro, and noticed that there is a warning label stating "DO NOT DRINK WHILE ON THIS MEDICATION".
It didn't say "this medication may intensify the effect of alcohol.." It said "DO NOT DRINK WHILE ON THIS MEDICATION.."
Do any of you experts know why this is? What is different about Lexapro? Why can't I socially drink while on this med?
Moreover, what if I do ??? I know that it would be , at the very least, ill advised, but what are some of the effects, side effects, ect that can be expected if I were to drink on Lexapro?
HELP!
Thanks :)
