> However, being very uneducated in actual pharmocolofy,i want to thank this one poster who explained how they found it to actualy seem to be activating, and suggests it might ENHANCE a highly dopermigeric drug like parnate,so,im gonna just start it.If anyone can re-assure me im not taking a risk of loosing any benifit from my parnate in terms of increasing dopamine, please feel free to jump in at anytime.
As a partial agonist and competitive inhibitor at specific nicotinic receptors, it basically locks the receptor in a "partially on" state. It blocks nicotine's ability to fully agonize the same receptors, so smokers don't get the nicotine boost. I don't know that anyone can predict how it will interact with the subjective experience of Parnate. Just my opinion.
> P.S I also specifcaly remember it saying it SLIGTLY works at one of the 5hta sub types, for anyone who knows what that means, other than a serotion site,im not sure.
Yes, the 5-HT3 subtype. It's responsible for digestive motility, and thus mediates the most common side effect, nausea.
