Its still available as a medication in the US, often combined with a diuretic for high blood pressure. It has a multitude of side effects and isn't a first line drug.

It has been used in the past as experimental treatment for TD as a dopamine depleter although it can also cause strong pseudoparkinsonism and dyskinesias.
