In reply to tianeptine with other drugs, posted by Jon Rollins on December 15, 2006, at 19:08:59
I think trying to predict how tianeptine would work with other drugs like neuroleptics is a fruitless game and that only a personal trial will tell. So often what appears logical in theory just doesn't work that way, sometimes for better and sometimes for worse.
I did read an abstract at pubmed.com where a treatment resistent patient who had not responded to traditional antidepressants or to tianeptine did respond well to a combination of them. They actually combined tianeptine with another antidepressant. No mention of what the other antidepressant was though. It doesn't make sense that a reuptake inhibitor combined with a reuptake enhancer would work. But it did. I think the mechanisms of all these drugs on other systems besides just the monoamines is very complicated, and may sometimes be more important than what they actually do to serotonin.
