The pdocs have been reluctant to prescribe MAOIs in general, but I think that's true the world over. I've been talking to a young guy in the US who is trying to get Parnate and he is being refused by his pdoc.

You gentlemen are right on the money.First i am petrafied when i have to switch docs here in the U.S because many, many will simply REFUSE to.

Now theyll say because more safe, effective drugs are available, but being on them all i have to say its simply in many cases the docs work with the NEW ones all day, they see know reason to make a exception in one or two cases, and have to do MORE work by re-upping the knowledge base.

I 5 years ago went through 5 docs before i took my mother and practicaly demanded the drug.

Luckly it was a older woman doc,who knew and remebered it,and she gave it to me.She since told me i was and would be the only patient she trusts on it.

Many times when writing the scripts she would ask me about dose, and id have to remind her it only comes in a 10 mg dose.

Also then ones that will actualy do it,will more likly read right from the pdr and wont touch more than 30 mg,which i learned in age and weight makes a tremondous differance.

5 years ago 20 mg was a dose i could feel, today over a 100 pounds heavier,i need much more.A pharmisct i felt knew his stuff once told me unfrotunatly people dont remember the fact ,a sad one, that your brain ages and its possable the disease does too.

Whether or not im addicted to parnate,or if it hurt me in the long run ill never know, what i do know is this.

---- My year off drugs i lost tons of muscle mass, spent tons of otc supplements, lost my girl and became comptly self invovled i was lost.

---- My years on the NEWER SRRIS and such had me pulling over on the road and well just bad things.I not only had benifit with any of them,i worsened, and i never once ever had a single day of remission on them.

---- Parnate is the only drug i used when i went back to work, went to school, felt creative and smart, and felt like i can at least tolerate this disease.

I also had days off total remission while on parnate.

Last i will say i am at a cross road, the U.S is now using a generic form, and i recently had a major major black hole moment,im recovering now slowly, but i am using UK parnate,so i can pin point it,but i do know first i will never get prescribed the dosage effective for me in parnate, second the generic might be more than simply less potent,i dont know, and last i am un secure in knowing this med will simply not disappear, for these reasons i have assured other means of the drug so im not totaly reliant on the version here.
