I tried it a couple of years ago, maybe 18 months? It was a very very bad decision for me. I am slightly hyperthyroid, so I take levoxythyroxine (Synthroid) all the time. My doc added Cytomel at my request without checking my T3 levels and without lowering my levoxythyroxine. This pulled my TSH down into the toilet and shot my T3 way way up above normal. I felt terrible, headaches, insomnia, jitteriness, etc. When I got my lab results, we just stopped it.
I do wonder, though, if he had cut the other back, since Cytomel also affects T4 (by breaking down something? I forget), if maybe it might have been better.
So if you try it, get labs first and consider where you're at with thryoid hormones before taking anything that changes them.
Take care,
gg
