An update: Yes Virginia, there is a difference

Posted by Glydin on December 4, 2006, at 12:15:45

For me at least….

I recently had to switch from Lexapro to generic Celexa due to insurance issues. The first two weeks were okay and I actually felt the new cheap pill had a nudge of betterness in the anxiety controlling department. Weeks three, four and five did not go well. Gradually, I felt I was losing the depression symptom control I had become accustomed and started feeling the familiar (yet gone for quite some time) symptoms of depression. For me that meant a lack of drive and motivation, sleep problems, lack of focus, irritability, sadness and generally an attitude of wallowing pity for myself. To add, I started experiencing a very strange bout of chest discomfort and some GI non-specifics of: “Just didn’t feel right”. I soldiered through with thoughts it might be a startup adjustment thing. ….It got worse. To boot, all of this lovely me was becoming apparent to friend and foe alike in my RL.

To make an already long boring story shorter…. I switched back to Lex. The results have been great with a return of the me I like to be.

Why am I coming back here to tell this? I dunno know really…. other than to share.

Make any judgments you like - I’ve probably heard them. I am NOT Forest Labs poster child by choice. I can tell you, I believe no one but us knows how we feel and I think Lex is a better fit for me.
