I haven't used the regular formation but I'd be wary of it. Wellbutrin SR wasn't just a patent extender -- it, and XR probably too, has less seizure potential than the immediate release Wellbutrin. If you're going to use the immediate release, I would have a bit of Klonopin or something already on board.
