I have shingles, too, and have since I was about your age. Definitely brought on by added stress, and I guess that in itself can weaken an immunse defense. I don't have any particular disorder that would make me susceptible to shingles, and it's surprised each doctor I've seen about it.
There's an antiviral medication that helps with an outbreak (it does shorten the recovery time for me). Luckily I don't get shingles more often than every year and a half or so.
