Hey my fellow creatures!
Sorry for not being on for so long....basically uni is exhausting me with so much work....
Tomatheus...I have recieved ur email and will reply...I apologise so much for delay......
In my uni course we have (not confirmed) the possibility that SSRI's may destroy the myelin sheath in cerebral white matter, this obviously leads to slower transmittion and eventually serious prob...i.e. alzheimers disease. The mechanism behind this is supposedly that the SSRI molecule, when blocked and re-uptaked, enters the myelin sheath (through it's lipid solubility due to the aromatic (carbon) ring)
in an anotmically 'akward' way. Basically, it does not enter through a channel protein but through pores (newly dicovered????). The rest is mopped up by enzymes and microglia.....I am doing more research on this, as it stands the theory has major cracks in it.
Please tell me how you are all doing with your meds!!!!!!!!!!I am soon to start Zyban (Wellbutrin) for smokin cessation!
God Bless you all!
