As far as I know, there is not necessarily a similarity of response between Strattera and desipramine. Or reboxetine. So, maybe not.
Never been on desip myself, but all of the standard tricyclics have sedative effects (antihistamine, and possibly other actions as well, like 5HT receptor blocking. However, desip is not known for that, as far as I know). In any case, you may find it less sedating if you raise the dose, because of increased noradrenaline supply. Probably more antidepressant effect too, or anti-ADD effect, if those are what you're looking for.
