It might be a lag in chemistry in your brain -- it isn't necessarily permanent. A lot of antidepressants will block this. Psychiatric conditions alone may also do as well.

I consider an occasional cry session a let-out, sometimes I force myself with songs I consider sad. But equally reinforcing is a happy let-out, listening to happy songs and attempting to cheer yourself up. I know, that can be more challenging, but maybe it would be more rewarding too. Either has some benefit.
