Hi, I'm an adult with bipolar 2 and I did not have good long-term results with an SSRI and an anti-psychotic (in my case, it was Celexa and Seroquel). I certainly had anger/rage issues on that combination, although I only sought a treatment change because of seizures and other extrapyramidal effects while I was sleeping.

Treatment with a mood stabilizer (in my case lamictal) has been much more effective. I understand your wariness with a poor trial of trileptal, but I do think a mood stabilizer is a better choice of treatment if your son is bipolar.

In your son's case, I would also consider lowering the dose of risperdal and seeing if that helps with the bedwetting. I would also wonder if he is sleeping ok (ie, he's twitching or otherwise sleeping unrestfully and therefore making him more prone to the rages).

good luck
