> I started taking Lyrica 8 days ago--75 mg--and today I am supposed to up my dosage to 150 mg (75 twice a day). I have felt tequila drunk since the second day; woozy and blurry vision/ dizziness. I cannot imagine what 150 is going to do to me. I am taking it for pain related to multiple herniated discs, myofascial pain sydrome upper back and lower back radiculopathy (all from a car accident which I have had multiple back surgeries for already). Prior to this I was relying on heat/cold and ibuprofen. None of it works. I have had some relief from Lyrica but not much relative to the cloud I am floating on while taking it (I prefer to be on the ground). My doctor wants me to continue for a month. Does it get any better--by that I mean do you feel less drugged--at some point?
Yes-at least for me. I started really slow just 50mg once in awhile like every couple of days in the evenings. I wasn't really planning on taking this med on a regular basis My Dr. just kinda nudged it my way. (Smart guy)I HATE sedating medications although I do have much trouble with anxiety-so I am surprised at how well I took to this med.
I stated this med back in Feb 2006. I now take 225-300 per day and I still vary the time and amount depending on how I feel.
The actual sedating part was just gone all of a sudden one day. I would say I had taken it for about a month (not consecutive days)when it just didn't put me to sleep anymore.
It is actually-not energizing exactly but rather like it keeps my energy from being drained by anxiety so that I am able to use what I do have more effectively. The effect on my sleep is also wonderful. I think I am getting true restorative sleep and that the healing and repair of my body has been accelerated.
I did gain a few pound at first but that seems to have leveled off. I am eating in a more balanced healthy manner than I have in years. Lyrica seems to have more regulated my appetite. To me this drug overall has had a regulatory type effect on my entire system.
I have had transient trouble with balance and cognitive blunting. However, the great reduction in anxiety has allowed me to do things I ordinarly have trouble with like handle social situations better, get things done and start school. So I'm ok with this aspect.
It has anti-depressant qualities that are just right for me. My moods are more level and I am enjoying being able to count on myself more.
The down side-for me-tolerance and a bit of up/down effect. It seems to wear off within 5-6 hours. I will ask my doc about what to do when I see him soon.
Oh-I can tell I will feel like crap when I go off of this. I think the withdrawal will be tough. Can't be any worse than friggin cymbalta though.
Hope this helps!
