> I'm having surgery on the 21st and I am a wreak! My gyno who is doing the surgery says to take Lexapro. I noticed a lot of the gynos push Lexapro as an anxiety buster. They also tell the women that there Lexapro is the least likely to cause weight gain and that the inital hunger will subside (just to watch your appetite).

There are probably some other meds which are far better for you than SSRI's for anxiety related to an acute event. I would also ask this doc for a plan you could give the hospital to help with your anxiety should it get really bad.
I am a theatre nurse and let me assure you that gynae surgery is very safe and the staff take excellent care of you. Everything is well monitored during and after the surgery. You should talk to your admitting nurse about your anxiety so they can help you.
I have had hyster surgery a few years ago and it was SOOO much easier than I expected.
