More like the 1950's in the U.S. I believe that when I was in Barbados, they have a psychiatrist there and a hospital, but I wouldn't step foot near the place if I were you. Psychiatric treatment is not something that is used by most people in the islands, as I said. I recall Grenada had a big psychiatric hospital that was a lot like from the old movies. Patients were mostly schizophrenic and on high doses of the older generation antipsychotics. I would check with the U.S. embassy there in Barbados. They can probably give you the best information.
