I am by far no expert on ecstasy (sp?)
But I am pretty sure I read somewhere that it works similarly to ssris in that it hits the serotonin reuptake inhibitors in the brain and allows for collosal amounts of serotonin to be available, way more than a prescribed ssri.
I have never taken ecstasy, and I never will. I have heard (again, source unclear) that afterwards, you have a sort of crash as your brain has been completely drained of serotonin.
That sometimes, the receptors get burned out and never completely rebound, and then you have a depression that is unresponsive to ssri's and other anti-depressants, leaving you in depression purgatory forever.
No thanks.
But I do think that if it acts on the same neurotransmitter as the ssri's, then it would have similar side effects (like yawning)
By the way, I did reduce my dose of Wellbutrin from 600 to 300, and the yawning has diminished significantly. I agree with the earlier post that it is the synergy of the lexapro and wellbutrin--a kind of 2 + 2 = 5 situation.
