Dopamine agonists aren't known for causing weight gain, but people vary so widely in this regard with different meds that the possibility cannot be discounted. At the very least, if a drug has a beneficial effect on your mood or some other aspect of your health, a person's appetite may improve just from that, and there may be some weight gain. Beyond that, the drug may act directly on receptors involved in weight and appetite regulation, and what might cause one person to lose weight may have no effect or the opposite effect on someone else.
