Hormone testing re. depression

Posted by mayzee on July 23, 2006, at 21:12:05

I've read several people talking about hormone testing. I know it's important to have your thyroid tested. But what else?

What other hormone tests are indicated when one is diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder?

I have a gynecologist appointment in August and would like to talk to her about this. I know they look at FSH levels relative to (peri)menopause, but is that relevant for depression too? I mean, is there any related treatment, or would they just say "oh, you're perimenopausal, no wonder your depressed?"

Thanks for your suggestions.
