> Why EMSAM? I ran out of options..tryed em all, including ECT treatments in '97. All the ssri's, all the snri's, and most of the TCA's, along with tons of augmentation agents..lithium thyroid, Lamictal, neurontin..the list goes on and on. Also have tryed 4 benzo's , currently on 3 mgs of Klonopin daily. Parnate worked very well for me for awhile but the insomnia and afternoon fatigue got unbearable!!Oh, well there's some promise there then. My Bipolar presents itself as major depression to the untrained eye and is similarly accompanied by atypical features (SP, GAD, derealisation, obsessive tendencies).
I've also gone through the entire pharmacopeia, as well as an ill-fated course of ECT.
> It certainly hasn't been a cure all, but it's definitely helping the depression and social anxiety.
That's cool. I've sadly come to the conclusion that it's perhaps unrealistic for people as treatment resistant as us to expect full remission for the time being.
But I find your response encouraging - particularly the fact that EMSAM appears to help a range of disorders. Most of my meds are quite specific in their application.
Thanks for the reply,
J.
