On these boards, there usually is a bias towards people asking for advice/support when something is not working. One may get the idea that it takes many trials and that eternal suffering is inevitable, particularly if negative thinking and pessimism is a symptom of one's mental illness!
This is in stark contrast to my 2 friends in real life who I've talked to about antidepressant therapies. Both of them reported easy and straightforward improvement on AD's. Before I found psycho-babble, I was beginning to feel hopeless, because therapy wasn't a quick fix, and I was never sure if I would get a response from the AD I was on. Unlike my friends, I'm on two augmentors, and I've had to bump up my dose of cymbalta to a level that's higher than most people take. And it hasn't been straightforward or easy, as I naively believed. (Good thing I believed them though, otherwise I probably would never have sought treatment).
I have been trying to post more positive things about my experience, particularly since I've changed my dose 2 weeks ago and am finally experiencing palpable relief from severe depression.
I wish you the best of luck with your new regimen. I hope the withdrawal effects are bearable, and that you can get a fresh start. Everyone deserves to feel well.
yours,
