There's quite a lot of variety with TCAs as a class.

More so than with SSRIs, I believe

Noradrenaline based TCAs like Desipramine can be quite stimulating and don't cause weight gain.

I took Clomipramine for a while, which I didn't particularly like.
It caused horrible weight gain, but then I wasn't very careful about what eight.
Was good for sleep and anxiety, did help depression a bit
