Yep. Me too. Mood stabilizers don't seem to stabilize me.

Depakote brought me to near normal immediately on the first day, not quite as good second day, and then from that point on for 2 months I had the same mood swings as without depakote. My mood swings varied from mildly depressed to very depressed, never manic.

Lamictal on day one had me feeling quite good, second day I could feel the depression lurking right around the corner, third day I had a weak attempt at suicide.

When I was on paxil, and later prozac, my moods were very stable. Antidepressants are said to worsen mood swings in bipolars, but for me that never happened. The best mood stabilizers in my history were ssri's. Though some docs have said I have bipolar, I have always insisted I don't.
