PROZAC - restarting after years break

Posted by katie san diego on May 29, 2006, at 15:57:29

I had wonderful luck with prozac years ago during my initial major depressive episode. i responded quickly to a very low dose. as years would go by, my doc and i would gradually increase the dosage, usually in the winter to offset the SAD. After about 10 years though, i had another major depressive episode. i was up to 60 mg of the prozac and it just didnt seem to be working anymore.

Now, after trying every other SSRI, cymbalta, welbutrin, effexor, ECT, 2 more major depressives, anti-psychotics, i am tyring EMSAM and not having any luck. has anyone responded to going back to prozac after giving it a break? why does it stop working after being so effective for so long?
