Hi,
I understand lamictal tends to be more successful with depressive symptoms... im currently taking depakote and i find it helpful for the mixed states i experience... lamictal has relateively few side effects, whereas depakote has many... personally, lamictal made my manic whereas depakote is calming... but of course, everyone is different...
I, too, have compulsions... compulsions are interesting in that they mabye related to mixed manias or stand alone by themselves... i think ull find that with treatment for ur mentall illness you'll be able to distinguish whether ur compulsions are dependent/independent of your mood... anywayz, good luck and dont worry.. if lamictal doesnt work out, depakote is a fine option...

> I am wondering if Lamictal works for mania or mixed mood symptoms whatsoever. I brought up Depakote ER to my pdoc today and was flatly denied. I am still just starting Lamictal was the rationale. Maybe I am asking for too much as far as side effects in Depakote, but I am worried about breakthrough manic symptoms as they relate to my recovery in general and from substances. I also have other compulsive behaviors, and I thought Depakote was better with that than Lamictal.
