Yes, in truth Parnate wasn't the problem it was me. I am Bipolar II and I loved the Parnate activation too much. So I started to take it like little orange M&M's, popping them whenever I pleased. On top of that I was taking a lot of Aleve for a toothache which is another blood thinner. This led me to come down with ITP or idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura which basically means that my platelets stopped functioning. I was extremely lucky in that it didn't affect my brain (although some say it did, lol!) meaning I had no bleeds in it judging by both a CAT scan and an MRI. Anyway, the drug did work for me and if I take it like a normal human being which I plan on doing (I don't have a death wish) plus with the help of my hubby I know I can go back on it. I love the Marplan but I have gained about 10lbs in the past 2 weeks (no lie) and that is just not something I can live with. If Marplan was my only choice then believe me I wouldn't give a damn about the pounds but I know that Parnate did not make me gain weight and in fact helped me loose.
Sorry for writing a novel :-)
