SSRI for only a few days to break depression?

Hi folks,

I have a bipolar diagnosis. I am currently off meds and am starting to go into a depression.

An SSRI on its own (without mood stabilizer) works for me within a couple of days -- in 48 hours I can feel the effect. Within a couple of months I get very manic.

My current therapist brought up the idea that maybe i might try taking an SSRI for a few days/or a week...just to jumpstart my brain out of the depression...but not long enough to build up to a mania.

Has anyone tried it???
