Phillipa, that's what I would think. The patch bypasses the serotonin in your gut, so whatever endocrine stuff that normally would happen, won't, with the patch. But I'm not sure, because I don't really understand how SSRIs cause weight gain, if they are interacting with the GI serotonin system or if they do something else.
The manufacturer has an average weight loss among patients taking it, like -1.2 pounds, but I never know how reliable their data is.
Best of luck jealibeanz, I think a few posters have been on Emsam a few weeks now so maybe they can tell us if they notice anything dramatic so far.
