I know it doesn't sound like it would do anything when it's bone pain, but often a heating pad really does reduce pain for me. I think it's just relaxing the muscles a bit, so that there's no additional pain? Maybe? Or maybe it really does something?
I'd "prescribe" trying it along with the oxy, of course...
A sort of self-hypnosis type thing that doesn't sound like it would help, but actually does, is to concentrate on your pain -- focus on it, and try to describe it. Try to identify every nuance of it. Believe it or not, that actually reduces the pain for me, when I do it. Or maybe it just reduces how much the pain bothers me...
