I am not taking it at the moment. I have been on it at least three times with some positive results. I didn't stay with it because the degree of improvement was inadequate. I thought it was a pretty clean drug. I took 300mg.
Effexor seems to be more effective than the SSRI drugs. This has been documented in medical literature. It gets more people well. It also produces a better quality response. These are just statistical averages. Each person has a unique biochemistry that determines responsivity to specific drugs and side effects.
Many people do suffer an intense withdrawal syndrome upon discontinuation if they don't taper the dosage gradually. It is inadvisable to go "cold turkey" as so many do.
This website attracts people who are treatment-resistant or experience significant side effects. I don't think it is representative of the general population.
