Xanax causes stuttering?

Posted by CK1 on March 27, 2006, at 22:30:22

Hi all,
I've been taking ONLY Xanax .25-.375/day for the past two months and have been doing very well, except for the past week (I think I was hypomanic or something). Anyway, I was wondering if any of you have noticed that taking benzos inhibits your ability to speak! I have NEVER had a problem with stuttering, but, about once every day, I'll stutter over a word. It doesn't happen often and I know for a fact that Xanax is the culprit. Does anyone know why this is or have experience with this? Xanax is WONDERFUL for anxiety, but the "slight possibility" of stuttering makes me anxious as hell even though there is no "physical anxiety." As i said before, I have never had problems with stuttering and it still only happens rarely, but I ruminate about this constantly and may have to get off Xanax because of it.

Any advice!!!!
Thanks people.
